Abortion clinic protests: help us stop the harassment
Women seeking abortion are increasingly likely to face harassment and intimidation by hardline anti-abortion groups who protest outside clinics.
Already this year staff and patients have been filmed entering clinics by anti-abortion protesters; offensive and inaccurate leafets are routinely handed out and women regularly have to face huge pictures of aborted foetuses as they try to access services. This has to stop.
People have a right to protest but this cannot be at the expense of those seeking to access legal medical treatment in safety and privacy.
This government has not been shy of making public statements about abortion, from plans to introduce new counselling requirements, to ordering raids on abortion clinics in search of bad practice. But in spite of public outrage and clear evidence it has remained silent on the issue of anti-choice harassment.
It's time we had clear public statements from Ministers that they will take action and enforce regulations to protect women from anti-choice bullying at abortion clinics.
Women must be able to access abortion without fear of intimidation. Let's make sure they can.
Please contact your MP today to urge them to speak out about anti-choice clinic protests and to express your outrage the behaviour of these organisations.
